Actually, as a representative of an ordinary worker who assumes a critical attitude towards the industrial society, Lamb shows his criticism to his life world in the two collections. And he expresses his criticism through humor and aestheticization in a melancholic attitude. This is because of his compassion as the cognition mode of seeing the world. Lamb sees himself and the world as an integration, which makes his compassion possible.& lt/p& gt & ltp& gtHowever, the cognition mode in modern society is different from Lamb&rsquos. The former is the opposed relation between subject and object and thus causing some problems. Learning from Lamb&rsquos cognition mode to go beyond the opposed relation between subject and object can help us to solve the problems.
