17-18世纪，英国在轰轰烈烈展开工业化进程的同时，东方的中国却遭受着经济发展的短暂没落。而棉纺织业作为英国工业革命的先导产业，在其工业化的进程中发挥了重要的作用，同样，棉纺织业也是中国工业化发展中较为有代表性的产业。

本文将首先分别分析工业革命时期前后英国纺织业的发展背景与过程，再简要探究同一时期中国纺织业的发展环境与过程。在对中英两国纺织业背景的研究的基础之上，尝试分析研究二者差异的产生原因。在原因分析阶段，本文提出三个主要因素，即纺织品市场的扩大、包买商的出现和纺织分离、以及性别规范与家庭结构对纺织工业化的作用。针对这三点原因，本文都会在先分析英国出现这三点促进因素的背景以及它们对英国纺织业发展的作用，再对同一时期中国没有产生这几种促进作用的原因进行探究。

In the 17th-18th century, while Britain vigorously launched the process of industrialization, China in the East suffered a short decline in economic development. As the leading industry of British Industrial Revolution, cotton textile industry has played an important role in the process of industrialization. Similarly, cotton textile industry is also a more representative industry in the development of China's industrialization.

This paper will first analyze the development background and process of British textile industry before and after the industrial revolution, and then briefly explore the development environment and process of Chinese textile industry in the same period. Based on the study of the textile industry background of China and Britain, this paper attempts to analyze the causes of the differences between the two countries. In the stage of cause analysis, this paper puts forward three main factors, namely, the expansion of textile market, the emergence of merchant employers and textile separation, and the role of gender norms and family structure in textile industrialization. For these three reasons, this paper will first analyze the background of these three promoting factors in Britain and their role in the development of British textile industry, and then explore the reasons why China did not have these promoting effects in the same period.
